Gig Work has been submitted to
, with the hopes of it being part of the Mercs and Mayhem anthology later this year. And now we wait. Holding our breath, watching every email that comes in, never sleeping, eternally vigilant…Or not. It’s the first story I’ve ever tried to get published. The goal was to get it done by the deadline and under the word count limit, which I did. (Made it by 14 words.) Mission accomplished.
Actually getting published… it’ll be amazing if it happens, but I’m keeping my expectations tempered. The publisher says they usually get about a hundred submissions for each anthology, and 10 are selected. Considering some of those submissions will be from experienced authors, I’m figuring I’ve got about a 5% chance. Maybe a bit more - it depends on how much their typical submissions resemble the majority of what would be found in a slush pile. I know mine’s better than that, but that’s not a very high standard.
The good1 news for you, is that if they don’t select it I’ll publish it here for everyone to read for free.
For certain values of good
Bona furtuna, Nick.
